About our RTG library

The RTG library is a wonderful resource for both parents and children. Parents can borrow books ranging in subject from child development to sleep issues. Your teachers will point out useful titles during parent education time in class. Parents and children can choose a book bag to borrow, with at least 4 books in each bag. The books in each bag can have a common theme, such as baby signs or Halloween, or they can simply be books that RTG teachers have chosen. Some of the children’s books chosen by your teachers are based on the King County Library System booklist “100 Books Every Child Should Hear Before Starting School.” This booklist includes titles to read to young children to help develop their Early Literacy skills.

Parents are encouraged to take turns looking at books during snack and lunch time. Parents can check out a book or book bag at any time before, during or after class. To check out a book the parent must fill out information on the class check-out sheet in the library’s green check-out binder. Books are checked out for two weeks and then should be returned and re-shelved by parents. If a book is late, the parent and their parent leader will be contacted by e-mail and the parent may receive a written notice from the librarian or teacher.
